I live for breakthroughs. Whether you want to engage in healthier relationships, shed some pounds or build a successful business, we all have the power to boost our chances at success in every aspect of life. I believe this can be done in three steps, all equally as important:
1. Change your strategy. The best mindset can’t overcome a bad plan. Running east looking for a sunset, I don’t care how positive you are, I don’t care how hard you work at it, it’s not going to work, it’s the wrong strategy. I suggests you find people who’ve achieved turnarounds and transformations and study what went right.
2. Change your story. Common excuses like “I’m just not good at relationships,” or “Only those born rich get richer” are stories we tell ourselves that keep us from implementing our goals. We must divorce ourselves from stories that limit us in order to unlock true potential.
3. Change your state. If you’re constantly stressed, overwhelmed or frustrated, you won’t have the fuel to implement your goals. Instead, you’ll develop a disempowering story, telling yourself that nothing can change and that nothing works. Find a way to recharge. Your mental and emotional state determines your perception on life, and is essential to any breakthrough.
Most of us have a subconscious idea of what we think we deserve. And when life does not represent what we think it should be like, we experience frustration and discontent, which can spur us into action to make change.
But this can work in reverse as well. So many of us end up sabotaging our success. What happens is, we start thinking that we deserve better, and we drop right back down to where we think we should be – in our careers, our finances, our relationships, our health, our general sense of well-being.
Your mind is the key to success. And if you want to live the life you desire, then it’s time to decide, to commit and to resolve. Because it’s not what we can do in life that makes a difference, it’s what we will do. And there’s no better time to take back control of your mind and set your sights on something better than right now.
